Program Title: Scriptwriting and Media Creation in Spanish

This Micro-Credential is designed for students who wish to acquire knowledge in Scriptwriting and Media Fiction Content Creation in Spanish. Students will examine the principles of writing in Spanish for the screen, including finding and developing story ideas, film and TV fictional language, scripted podcasting, script structure, as well as plots and characters creation. Students will learn storytelling concepts and techniques as well as the creative process characteristic of television fiction screenwriting as a model to introduce them into different forms of writing, such as short fiction, autobiography, and even non-fiction narratives. The mocro-credential will also give the students an insight into the creation and development of media series projects in Spanish by delving into both classic and emerging television and podcast drama formats and narratives in the Spanish-Language media industry.
Program Learning Outcomes.
- Techniques, concepts, and tools characteristic of the television and podcast fiction scriptwriting, as well as the creation of series projects for television or podcast in Spanish.
- Analysis of the media industry with a critical approach to the dynamics of the television and podcast fiction creation in Spanish, both in USA and Latin America/Spain.
- Design of projects and the writing of scripts for television and podcast with a focus in patterns and characteristics of media narratives in the Spanish-language world, as well as the US media industry in Spanis
Curriculum: Students are required to take 8 credits by completing two courses with a grade of C+ or higher at Old Westbury. (Note: All of the courses in the Micro-Credential have pre-requisites -Advance level of Spanish is required- that are not part of the Micro-Credential).
