ML 2005 - French-English TranslationCredits: 4 This is an introductory course in the practice and theory of French to English translation. After a basic introduction to modern translation theory, students will practice the precision skills necessary to understand, analyze and accurately translate short prose texts from French into English. They will learn how to preserve the meaning, style, syntax and tone of source text. Passages selected for translation will come from a variety of sources, including short stories, plays, newspaper or magazine articles on different topics, and will be of increasing complexity and length.
Prerequisites ML 1010 or permission of Instructor
