AS 6440 - Advanced Video Project Credits: 3
Description In this capstone course, students will plan, shoot and edit a short documentary, promotional, advocacy or instructional video (TRT 10-15 minutes). Students will be guided through each phase of filmmaking: pre-production, production and post-production. Pre-production will include research, pitch, budget, proposal, storyboard and schedule development. Production will build on cinematography techniques learned in AS 6420 with a focus on handheld camera tracking, lighting, interviews, three-point lighting and available light analysis. Post-production will build on the structure and style techniques learned in AS 6430 with a focus on dramatic form, documentary aesthetics and character development. Special emphasis will be placed on employing industry standard workflows and creating high production value media. Classes will consist of hands-on workshops as well as online coursework and critiques of student work.
