VA 6340 - 3D Modeling for Art and Invention Credits: 3
Description 3D digital art is a merger between art and technology that allows for many new ways to visualize and build ideas for art and design. Augmented Reality is becoming an increasingly popular tool for educators as well, with the ability to overlay content on real world images with a phone camera. The 3D software Autodesk Maya will be taught as a tool for creating virtual 3D object designs, environments, and characters. Through readings and digital projects, this course will cover historical inventions and practices that have led to the present development of creative computer 3D visualization. Students’ ideas will be realized through the basics of modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering for Virtual and Augmented Reality as well as 3D printing. No prior 3D software experience needed.
