HI 6310 - The French Revolution ( 1789 1815): A Social History

Description This course focuses on the social, cultural and religious changes brought by the French Revolution. The course is open to all students interested in the period with or without a background in French history. Students will read a range of materials, from classics in the field to recent academic articles that provide in-depth analysis of each topic. The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the major interpretations of the French Revolution by introducing them to standard forms of historical analysis and writing through essays, textbook and journal reviews, and oral presentation.
