EL 6320 - From Homer to Aristotle: Classical Origins of Western Civilization

Description This course aims, through a critical study of the works of the greatest minds and literary artists of classical antiquity, to give an understanding of their contributions to western culture, to provoke thinking on basic problems of human experience, to develop literary taste and judgment, and to improve skills in oral discussion and written analysis. Readings are drawn from the following genres: epic, tragedy, history, philosophy.
