AS 4222 - The Emergence of Modern AmericaCredits: 4 An exploration of social, political, economic and cultural life from the Civil War through the 1920’s. Topics include the growth of the modern industrial system, the emergence of the corporation, immigration, migration, the development of the labor movement, consumer culture, populism, the rise of Progressivism, women’s suffrage and the Harlem Renaissance. We will also explore the backlash against reform in the red scare following World War I.
Prerequisites AS 2122 or permission of instructor; EMS
