ML 6830 - Topics in Caribbean Anti-Slavery Narrative Credits: 3
Description This course will provide a background on the history of slavery, and its social and political impact on Spanish Caribbean societies. We will analyze aesthetic, political and social discourses as presented in 19th century anti-slavery literary texts. Particular attention will be given to issues of race, gender representation, the formation of a criollo society, and nation building. (Conducted in Spanish)
