BU 7630 - Legal and Ethical Foundation of Healthcare Credits: 3
Description The course provides an overview of the legal system and legislative process as well as examines important legal and ethical issues to help future healthcare administrators identify and tackle potential legal and ethical problems. The course content includes medical care law and topics related to bioethics law, public health law, the legal structure of health care delivery, and administrative law of health care. Students will learn ethical/moral values and principles relevant to healthcare in the context of ethical issues such as informed consent to medical care and end-of-life care. We will also examine the ethical conflict between individual choice/liberty and protecting public health. Topics include the right to health care, informed consent, professional malpractice, and product liability.
