BU 7630 - Legal and Ethical Foundation of Healthcare

Description This course will examine important legal and ethical issues in healthcare and cover essential information that will help future healthcare administrators identify and tackle potential legal and ethical problems. The course will provide an overview of the legal system and legislative process. The course content includes medical care law and topics related to bioethics law, public health law, and legal structure of health care delivery, and administrative law of health care. The course will also provide an overview healthcare ethics. Students will learn ethical/moral values and principles relevant to healthcare. Specifically, we will examine ethical issues arising in medical care such as informed consent to medical care and end-of-life care. We will also examine the ethical conflict between individual choice/liberty and protecting public health. Topics include the right to health care, informed consent, professional malpractice, and product liability.
