ED 73XX - Literacy Assessment Credits: 3
Description This course focuses on assessing literacy at each developmental stage of learning. Candidates will learn about different formative and summative literacy assessments that can be used to measure where students are at so that they can enhance literacy instruction for all learners. Candidates will learn to administer a variety of informal and formal assessments and interpret the results in order to plan instruction. 10 hours of fieldwork required.
Prerequisites: ED 7311: Teaching Reading in the Childhood Classroom: Early Literacy Development;
ED 7324: Reading in the Upper Grades: Academic Literacy & Multimodalities;
ED 7325: Teaching Writing in the Childhood & Adolescent Classroom;
ED 7326: Literacy for Diverse Learners
