PH 3600 - Introduction to the Social Determinants of HealthCredits: 4 Introduces students to the public health perspective on health, also called the social determinants of health, which includes a detailed examination of social class, racism, gender, community, environment, employment, social relationships, nutrition and the American food system, as well as access to health care. Students learn about numerous American institutions, and examine critically how individuals’ location in American society shapes their health status. They also learn to locate individual health behavior within its social context.
