EL 1000 - English Composition I: ExpositionCredits: 4 Designed to develop and refine students’ ability to read, write and think critically. Selected essays will be read and studied as models of rhetorical style, enabling students to detect for themselves the effective use of language and to develop an appreciation for masterpieces of non fiction prose. Students will learn to develop the extended essay with particular attention to discovery and organization. Oral communication skills will be sharpened by directed discussion and by presentation and criticism of class papers. A grade of C or above is required to pass this course.
